Biggest Run

So this was a pretty big week.  My coach, Tim Cattogio, gave me the final 6 weeks of training and I can't wait to finish up this final stretch and do this marathon.  This week was pretty much just mileage runs with a tempo 80-minute run.

However, today was arguably my most important run for marathon training.  I did a 23 mile run in 2 hours, 30 minutes which is roughly 6:35 pace.  The middle 18.75 miles were done in just over 2 hours which was around 6:25 pace. This is a pretty good indicator because it was a hilly course, whereas the Maryland course is not too hilly and even though I feel absolutely dead right now, I felt very comfortable for the first 80 minutes but then had to take a short water break at one of the biggest hills.  This is a great tune-up run, because I have been taking the long runs fairly easier before this.  I hit just over 80 miles for the week which is the high and it will drop in the coming weeks leading up to the marathon.

Even though my training is going great, I think outside the training the news is far greater.  First and foremost, we have officially surpassed our second goal of $35,000.  Not just passed it, but absolutely destroyed it.  We are now heading towards the mid $45,000's.  We had a huge donation from my father's lawfirm, Marcus, Errico, Emmer & Brooks which was incredible.  As my father's law partner and committee member, Richard Brooks puts it, "Well, he is one of our favorite employees :)" (referring to Stephen Marcus).

We also had a committee meeting this past Thursday where we figured out a lot of the details for the event.  Many invitations will be sent out in the coming weeks for the March 22nd event.  This event should be incredible and will now be more of a celebration for the amazing amounts we are raising.  Check out the "Auction Items" page which shows some of the great items that you have the chance to get.  We continue to seek gift donations for the auction items.  Be sure to tune into the local Easton station for our interview with time and date TBA.  Also, this Friday there will be an article on the fundraiser in the Easton Journal.  Make sure to continue to spread the good word!

P.S. I also wanted to discuss an unrelated topic.  Big congratulations to the Green Bay Packers!  Even though I'm an avid Patriots fan, Green Bay definitely deserves it.  They were the hottest team this postseason and very well-deserved rings for veterans Donald Driver and Charles Woodson (even though they had to watch injured).  Aaron Rodgers has also finally separated himself.  I've noticed a trend in recent years where quarterbacks are finally realizing that a ring is an intergral part of becoming elite (i.e. Brees, E. Manning, P. Manning, Roethlisberger, etc.).  All I know is next year will be interesting and I can't wait to see the Pats back at it.

P.P.S. I'm not sure if you have seen the infamous picture of me with no shoe but it is above.  We now have video footage which will be on the website tomorrow but here is the YouTube link if you want to watch it from here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=459l_y4iLMo
