Back to School |
This week was another good week of training and fundraising. It was also our first week back to school at Stonehill College for the spring semester. Some of my classes were also cancelled due to the snow storm. The snow didn't really hinder my training too bad besides on Tuesday. On Tuesday I did an 80 minute run with hills for the middle 40 minutes. So, I felt like I was putting in a lot of effort and going fast up the hills but I found out when I got back that it was slower than I wanted. But at least the effort was there and I didn't get hit by any cars like last Sunday. The rest of the week included two 50 minute runs, another 80 minute run and a long run today of 2 hours 5 minutes, along with a workout yesterday.
Yesterday's workout was one of the best ones I've had yet. I did 3x2-mile at hard effort. My intervals were around 11:25, 11:15, and 11:05, negative splitting every interval. Unfortunately, I had to do it on the Stonehill indoor track and to make it worse I had to do it in a square (instead of oval) because the curtains were blocking the lanes. The Stonehill athletics coordinator told me the track was 6.5 square laps to a mile which seemed accurate, so I'm assuming if I wasn't taking as sharp of turns it would have been faster than the intervals listed. So I was happy with that. I was definitely feeling the effects of the workout today and today's long run has definitely added some tightness to my calves. At the end of today's long run I wasn't all that tired but could barely walk.
We also held a meeting with the fundraising committee. We now have cleared up most of the details for the L O C O event on March 22nd. The event will most likely include a silent auction with many great prizes including an autographed Tom Brady jersey. There will be many delicious hors d'oevures throughout the night as long as an open bar. This will be a great way to celebrate and we'd love to see you all there.
The support continues to poor in. We are around $31,000. Don't be surprised if we raise our goal once again from $35,000 to $40,000 and maybe even again from there. The best CCFA fundraising effort last year was around $34,000, so we are pumped with the numbers we currently have. The support is incredible and we still have six months to go! So continue to spread the word.
Happy running and happy fundraising!
